Recently, ESEC successfully completed the periodic maintenance and servicing of the entire ACS800 ABB inverter system on the PV Drilling VI (PVD VI) rig after nine years of continuous operation. This milestone plays a crucial role in enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring safe operations for one of PV Drilling’s most advanced rigs.
PVD VI is jointly owned by the PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Services Corporation (PV Drilling) and reputable partners in Singapore, with the mission of providing high-quality drilling services to regional and global markets. Commissioned in 2015, this rig is among the most advanced jack-up generations owned by PV Drilling. In 2024 alone, PVD VI has completed 12 drilling wells in Malaysia, where ESEC has also successfully carried out this critical maintenance project.
Notably, on February 28, 2024, the PV Drilling VI rig marked nine consecutive years of safe operations (Zero LTI), with no lost-time incidents – an impressive achievement recognized by the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC). After nearly a decade of operation, maintenance and servicing have become imperative to ensure the rig’s continued stability and reliability.
In this project, ESEC partnered with strategic partner ABB to implement preventive maintenance services for the ACS800 ABB inverter system on PVD VI. The project included inspecting, cleaning, replacing components, and monitoring more than 60 inverters/equipment, each containing multiple essential control modules. The engineering teams from ESEC and ABB carried out the maintenance work professionally, ensuring the system remains stable, safe, and optimized for performance.
