Continuing a Partnership Established in 2018

ETAP Power Lab is an educational software sponsorship program initiated by ETAP at universities worldwide. The program aims to provide lecturers and students with access to professional tools for power system simulation, analysis, and design.

At the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City, the program was first introduced in 2018. Since then, it has supported teaching, practical training, and advanced research in power systems, while enabling lecturers and students to gain hands-on experience with specialized software tools widely used in industry.

Currently, ETAP software is deployed in the specialized laboratory of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, equipped with 25 computers. The platform supports specialized courses, engineering projects, and graduation theses. Lecturers also use ETAP to develop technical assignments, guide students in solving engineering problems, and conduct applied research activities.

As ETAP’s authorized representative in Vietnam, ESEC plays a key role in connecting the parties and coordinating the implementation, software configuration, and technical support. Through these efforts, ESEC helps ensure that the technology platform is effectively deployed and utilized to meet IUH’s teaching and research needs.

Enhancing Educational Capabilities and Strengthening Industry Connections

Against the backdrop of the ongoing energy transition, driven by the growth of renewable energy, smart grids, and digitally integrated power systems, upgrading ETAP software to its latest version brings significant practical value. It enables lecturers and students to access modern analytical tools and methodologies, work on specialized engineering challenges, and bridge the gap between academic knowledge and the practical requirements of the power and energy industry.

As a specialized software platform for electrical engineering, ETAP supports power system modeling, simulation, analysis, and design. Its application in the academic environment delivers several practical benefits:

  • Enhancing the quality of teaching and research: Enabling lecturers and students to simulate, analyze, and evaluate power system engineering problems using specialized software tools.
  • Strengthening the connection between theory and practice: Providing students with opportunities to become familiar with engineering tools and analytical methodologies used in industrial power, energy, and infrastructure projects.
  • Developing professional competencies for future engineers: Equipping students with technical knowledge, practical skills, and digital technology capabilities to meet workforce demands amid digital transformation and the energy transition.
  • Bridging the gap between academic training and industry requirements: Giving students access to and hands-on experience with the latest ETAP software version during their studies, using tools comparable to those deployed in industrial environments. This enables graduates to adapt more quickly to professional roles while helping businesses reduce initial training and onboarding time.

By bringing technology tools currently used in industry into the academic environment, ETAP Power Lab helps students develop practical engineering competencies and the ability to apply their technical knowledge, laying a solid foundation for their transition into the workforce.

ESEC Continues to Support ETAP and IUH in Developing Highly Skilled Engineering Talent

The handover ceremony for the ETAP Power Lab software upgrade package at IUH marks another milestone in the partnership established in 2018 among ETAP, ESEC, and the university. The initiative reflects the parties’ long-term commitment to promoting technology adoption in education and research, while contributing to the development of a highly skilled workforce for Vietnam’s power and energy sector.

ESEC is honored to serve as a bridge between ETAP and the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City, helping bring advanced technological solutions into the academic environment to support teaching and research activities. Moving forward, ESEC remains committed to supporting the university through technical assistance and helping maximize the effective use of the ETAP platform. Through this continued collaboration, ESEC aims to contribute to improving educational quality and developing engineering talent equipped to meet the evolving needs of industry.
