“Factory digitization” is an important goal that Corporations and Factories set in the 4.0 industrial era. In Vietnam, many factories are gradually transforming digitally to combine traditional operating and production processes, enhance connectivity with advanced technology platforms, all with the aim of achieving success production productivity, safety, reliability and reduced operating costs.
Understanding that needs, we at East Sea Energy Environment Company (ESEC) constantly research and develop to bring comprehensive technology solutions to quickly respond to the changes of the Industry 4.0.
One of the typical projects serving the factory digitalization process that ESEC carries out is the project “Production Operations Information Management System – EPMS” for customer Oil & Gas Fertilizer Joint Stock Company Ca Mau (PVCFC).
PVCFC – a member unit of Petrovietnam, is one of the leading units in the country in the production of high nutritional fertilizers. In addition, this is also one of the leading enterprises in the country in applying advanced technology and science to the operation and production process. Therefore, PVCFC has very strict requirements to ensure the factory always operates safely, stably, and reaches expected capacity.
Through the process of working and surveying with customers, ESEC found that with the existing data infrastructure management system in PVCFC’s production operations, the following problems exist:
- Takes a lot of time to process data, analyze data, and compile reports before sending to leaders.
- There is no centralized data infrastructure, making data collection dependent on the on-duty crew, and must be done manually at each sampling time.
- There is no real-time KPI measurement for clusters – groups of devices.
- Must open many applications at the same time to work: Operations/Administration applications, Excel, SAP, LAB Web… causing a lot of processing time and not high accuracy.
Therefore, PVCFC wishes to have an advanced solution for Production Operations Information Management System to overcome existing backlogs and meet the following requirements:
- Centralized data: Have a centralized data infrastructure to serve production management, expand and optimize operations in production operations and maintenance and repair.
- Data management ecosystem: Create a minimum data management ecosystem for each workshop, standardize equipment models and big data, provide a continuous, online source of information (high availability) about activities at the factory.
- High reliability: Closely monitor the performance and reliability of equipment in the factory, helping to make quick and accurate decisions for PVCFC’s leaders, factory shift leaders and member units.
Understanding customers’ desires and requirements, ESEC has provided Production Operations Information Management (EPMS) solutions using AVEVA‘s PI System platform. PI System is a globally leading data management solution, specifically built to overcome the challenges of industrial environments. ESEC is AVEVA’s System Integrator in Vietnam.
The Production Operations Information Management solution (EPMS) that ESEC provides to customers has the following features:
- System integration and centralized database building – propose a network structure suitable for the PI System ecosystem.
- Build a management, monitoring and warning system for production operating parameters.
- Build a system to monitor the machine start-up process at the Ammonia factory.
- Automate unexpected repair reports, daily shift reports and automate data collection from PI System as well as existing data platforms.
- Build a system for managing, monitoring, diagnosing and warning equipment status (Condition-Based Maintenance).
Over the period of deployment, testing and putting into operation, the EPMS system provided by ESEC has brought positive effects to customers’ production operations management:
- Providing customers with a centralized operating data infrastructure for 04 factories under PVCFC.
- Designing calculation, warning, and reporting automation modules helps best reflect the factory’s operating status in real time.
- Training and helping customers understand the importance of exploiting data from PI System infrastructure as well as helping engineers easily use it in daily operations.
- Saves time, effort, and costs compared to previous methods; as well as providing accurate, safe and reliable results.
